Leafroll Diagnostic Maps
Leafroll is a devastating disease that may affect a large portion of the winegrape vines in the U.S. Early detection and treatment can manage its effects. In 2013-2014, a study was performed by VineView & University of California to develop an aerial map that would accurately identify the disease.
- Study conducted w/ UC Davis and Napa County scientists
- 5 vineyards blocks flown in 2013 & 2014
- Field scouting was done on all vines; some also lab tested
A comparison to field scouting showed the rate of successful aerial detection to be > 94%.
A summary of the study was published October 2016 in Elsevier.
